My name is Julia and I’m a part time taxidermist. I say that like an admittance of some kind of terrible affliction, but to my parental unit, it is. So, in the absence of their approval I thought ‘What the heck’ and decided to make my own website for people who DO like my work.
A little about me. I live in West Yorkshire with my wonderful and supportive husband James and my beloved Springer Spaniels MaxiBon and Millie. I have 2 daughters, one who suggested I take up making cupcakes instead, and another who thought up the name for this website. I also have a son who would rather wrestle crocodiles than take an interest in taxidermy. Anyway, I prefer eating cupcakes to making them so decided to indulge my twin loves of Victorian history and animals to learn taxidermy.
I love it. I never kill or commission animals to be killed for me, and as antelope and bears seldom throw themselves under my car outside the local McDonalds I tend to stick to birds and small mammals. I like to think that even in death my animals still have presence, most are getting even with the art in the poses I choose. I do make serious mounts too but find that most people prefer the cute/humorous ones. I hope you like my work too. I try to keep new ideas coming as often as I can. My most frequently asked question is 'Would you mount your pets?’. No, but I threaten it every day :)
I am also an active member of the Guild of Taxidermists.
